Operating system access

System docsPermissions

Grant LowLighter the required permissions.

Understand the permission prompts shown by the desktop app and the operating system during setup.

Screen Capture

LowLighter checks screen access before it starts a selection. This permission lets the desktop read the area you choose for a screen request.

On macOS, the first-run permission panel opens the Screen Capture list and provides an Open and Drag action. After you add LowLighter, macOS may require a restart before the change takes effect.

Input Monitoring

LowLighter uses global shortcuts to start answer modes from the keyboard. On macOS, the setup panel uses Input Monitoring for that shortcut path and verifies the permission with the operating system.

  1. 1

    Open the permission list

Use the action in the LowLighter setup panel to open the relevant macOS privacy list.

  2. 2

    Add LowLighter

Use the guided Open and Drag action, then switch LowLighter on in the system list.

  3. 3

    Complete both permission steps

Finish Screen Capture and Input Monitoring before testing a mode hotkey.

  4. 4

    Restart when macOS requests it

The setup panel can show Restart LowLighter when the operating system needs a relaunch to apply the changes.

Meeting audio access

Meetings asks for audio access when you start an Audio Session. The session can listen to microphone and system audio sources, then transcribe the active conversation.

Permission status comes from the operating system. If a request cannot start, open the platform privacy controls, confirm the relevant LowLighter permission, then restart the action from the desktop.

Agent access choices

Agent has separate permission choices for automated tasks. Full access lets Agent continue through supported actions within your request. Ask before running pauses for your approval before actions covered by that setting.

You can stop a task or take over when a website needs your direct input. The access choice does not extend the task beyond the request you gave Agent.

Enter private sign-in details yourself. When a website asks for a password, security key, or other private account step, take over the Agent browser and continue the task after you finish.

Accessibility access for StealthType

StealthType is a separate Phantom system control. When you enable it, LowLighter opens an accessibility prompt and waits for the operating system to confirm access before saving the setting.

You do not need this permission for the ordinary Answer, Summarize, Translate, Rewrite, or Explain workflow. See StealthType for the supported typing behavior.
