Where the response appears

The answer box is LowLighter's response surface. It appears after a screen request and keeps the result separate from the application where you made the selection.

Responses can be formatted with readable text, emphasis, inline code, and scrollable content. When the response is delivered progressively, the answer surface updates as text arrives.

The visible answer surface is built entirely in native Rust. It is designed to stay responsive while using modest background memory.

Read, scroll, move, or dismiss the answer

Read long responses

The answer content can scroll when it is taller than the available surface.

Move the surface

Drag the answer surface to place it where it works best on your desktop.

Copy the response

Use the answer surface context action to copy the response text.

Dismiss the response

Close the answer surface or let Auto-dismiss remove it after the interval you choose.

Configure the answer box in Settings

Settings lets you change background opacity, border visibility, text color, background color, font size, font family, and Auto-dismiss. Use Show Preview to check the surface before making a request.

Phantom has a separate appearance card for the protected answer surface. See Phantom appearance for those controls.

Keep the answer available after closing the dashboard

Closing the main LowLighter window does not close an answer already on your screen. The native Rust surface can remain visible and interactive while LowLighter continues running.

Open LowLighter again from the Windows system tray or macOS menu bar. Choose Quit LowLighter when you want the answer surface and other running features to stop.
