Keyboard control
Assign a keyboard shortcut to each answer mode.
Configure the shortcuts shown on the Home mode cards and keep the controls consistent with the modes you use.

Find the shortcut controls on Home
Each standard answer mode has a shortcut display on its Home card. The five standard modes are Answer, Summarize, Translate, Rewrite, and Explain. Custom Prompt has its own shortcut control when a saved prompt is available.
Select the keycap row for the mode you want to change. The desktop enters a listening state and pauses the active LowLighter shortcuts while it records the new combination.
Record and save a new combination
- 1
Enable the mode
If the mode is disabled, turn it back on before selecting its shortcut field.
- 2
Select the keycap row
Click the shortcut shown on the mode card to begin recording.
- 3
Press the full combination
Press the modifier and final key together. LowLighter shows the captured combination in the keycap row.
- 4
Finish the change
The desktop saves the new shortcut and refreshes the protected-key display used by the Phantom controls.
Read the shortcut for your platform
The default mode shortcuts are platform-specific. The Home card always shows the current value, so use that display as the source of truth instead of assuming that a shortcut from another computer applies to yours.
Windows supports mouse side buttons as M4 and M5 shortcuts in the recorder. The desktop does not offer those side-button shortcuts on macOS.
Keep every action distinct. LowLighter checks the combination against other available account modes, Meetings controls, and Agent before it saves the change. See Hotkey Conflicts when a combination is rejected.
