Automatic routing

Let Auto choose the processing path.

Use Auto when you want the service to choose between text processing and image understanding for the captured material.

How Auto chooses a path

Auto begins by checking whether the captured region contains usable text. When the extracted text meets the service's quality checks, the request stays on the text path. When the selection needs more visual interpretation, Auto can use image understanding.

  1. 1

    Capture the region

LowLighter receives the area selected on screen or the saved Automatic Screen Capture region.

  2. 2

    Check for usable text

The service evaluates the text available in the image.

  3. 3

    Use text or image understanding

Auto selects the path that matches the captured material and the account's current allowance.

  4. 4

    Return the response

The selected answer mode produces the result in the same LowLighter answer surface.

Auto on the Free plan

Free accounts receive a bounded Auto allowance of 15 uses. After those Auto uses are exhausted, the service moves free requests to a text-only path. The separate daily free answer allowance is shown in the Account view.

If the selection contains no usable text or visual context, LowLighter returns a message with suggestions such as choosing a larger, clearer, or non-blank area.

When image understanding cannot be used

Auto can fall back to OCR and text processing when the image path is unavailable or its allowance is exhausted. This keeps the request on a supported text path when the captured region contains readable content.

Use Vision when visual detail is the priority. Auto is the setting for letting LowLighter make that choice from the captured region.
