Use Download LowLighter, then choose the installer for the computer where you will use it. LowLighter supports Windows 10/11 and macOS 12 or newer. It does not run on Chromebook or ChromeOS.
On Mac, choose Apple Silicon for an M-series chip or Intel for an Intel processor. Check → About This Mac if you are unsure. Agent is available on Windows and requires macOS 14 or newer on Mac.
Install the current release again from Download LowLighter. The Mac installer requires one in-app update after it first opens: choose Download Update, wait for Ready to Install, then choose Install & Restart.
If the updater shows Update Failed, check your connection and choose Retry. If the app still closes on launch or remains on the loading screen, email support@lowlighter.ai with your operating system, computer chip, LowLighter version, and the exact error shown.
Yes. On Home, click a Core Mode card to turn that mode on or off. To change its hotkey, click the shortcut shown on the card, then press the new combination. LowLighter prevents duplicate assignments across your other available modes, Meetings controls, and Agent.
GhostKeys is LowLighter's native hotkey override for Basic and Pro users. While LowLighter runs in the background, it keeps every registered LowLighter hotkey reaching the operating system, even when the active app tries to capture or block the trigger. View its live status and protected shortcuts under Phantom → GhostKeys.
Open Account, choose Manage subscription, then confirm the cancellation in Stripe. Your paid access continues through the date shown as Ends on in Account.
Refunds are separate from cancellation. They are discretionary and reviewed case by case under the Terms. To be considered, email billing@lowlighter.ai within seven days of the charge.
Use the same method you originally chose: Email, Google, or Apple. New email accounts must finish email verification first; use Resend verification if the message does not arrive. Existing email accounts can use Forgot password. A Google or Apple account should continue with that provider instead.
After signing in or completing checkout, refresh Account and use the plan, payment status, and usage shown there as the current source of truth.
Answer receives the screen region you drag over. In Settings → Answer Box → Engine Mode, Fast uses readable text, Auto chooses between text and image understanding, and Vision sends the selected image to a vision-capable model for charts, diagrams, screenshots, and other visual content. Vision use counts toward the allowance shown in Account.
By default, each core-mode capture is a new request. To keep context, open Settings → Answer Box and set Response memory to 2–10 requests. That context can carry across core modes for the selected request window; Off keeps captures independent. Agent conversations and Meetings keep their own separate histories.
No. Opening Meetings, checking its status, and preparing the workspace do not start listening or consume a meeting session. Choose Start Audio Session when you want permitted microphone and system audio to build a live transcript.
During a session, Assist can use recent transcript context, your selected Meeting Mode, and the visible screen when Use screen context is enabled. Choose Done to finish the listening session and save it to History.
Tell Agent the outcome you want, then choose Ask before running or Full access. Agent can work in its separate Chrome or Edge window and use supported file and desktop tools. It pauses when a password, passkey, verification code, CAPTCHA, payment detail, or operating-system approval must stay with you.
Pro includes 500 Agent credits each month. Credit use reflects the actual model work, so one turn does not always use one credit. Purchased packs are used after the included balance and carry over until used; Account shows your current balance and reset date.
Phantom makes LowLighter and its overlays invisible to all screenshots, recordings, and screen shares while they remain visible and usable to you. Meetings has its own Invisibility control. Learn more.
Signed-in users receive one 15-minute Phantom trial. The timer counts only while Phantom is active and can be paused and resumed across sessions. Pro removes the trial timer.
Closing the main window does not quit LowLighter. Agent, an active Meetings session, Answer overlays, and enabled visual effects can keep running, and LowLighter remains available from the macOS menu bar or Windows system tray.
Choose Quit LowLighter from that menu when you want to stop the app and its running features.
