Use the engine shortcut
The desktop can cycle through the three engine modes without opening Settings. On Windows, hold Ctrl and Alt, then press the Left or Right Arrow. On macOS, hold Command and Control, then press the Left or Right Arrow.
- Left Arrow
- Move to the previous engine in the cycle.
- Right Arrow
- Move to the next engine in the cycle.
- Cycle order
- Fast, Auto, and Vision repeat as a three-choice cycle.
Read the active engine after switching
LowLighter saves the selected engine mode and shows visual feedback after a successful switch. The current engine remains the processing preference for later requests until another setting or feature-specific rule changes the active path.
Trial accounts do not switch engines with this shortcut. The desktop shows an upgrade message instead.
Feature settings can take priority
- Offline AI
- Uses Fast only while Offline AI is active, so engine cycling is blocked.
- Automatic Screen Capture
- Uses Vision for the saved region while the feature is active, so engine cycling is blocked.
- Vision allowance depleted
- Paid accounts cannot cycle into Vision or Auto after the Vision allowance reaches zero. Fast remains available.
The active state is intentional. If the shortcut does not change the label, check whether Offline AI, Automatic Screen Capture, account access, or the Vision allowance is controlling the current route.
