Close the dashboard without quitting LowLighter

Closing the main LowLighter window hides the dashboard but keeps LowLighter available. Answer, Meetings, Agent, and Aesthetics can remain available through their normal controls while the main window is closed.

Use the LowLighter icon in the Windows system tray or macOS menu bar when you want to reopen the dashboard. The icon is an entry point to LowLighter. It is not a separate control panel for each overlay.

Closing and quitting are different. Choose Quit when you want to stop LowLighter. Quitting stops its background features until you open the app again.

Use responsive native overlays

LowLighter's visible overlays are designed as lightweight desktop surfaces that can remain interactive without turning the main dashboard into the foreground app.

Answer
The answer surface is built entirely in native Rust.
Meetings
The visible Meetings overlay uses Swift on macOS and C# on Windows.
Agent
The visible Agent overlay uses Swift on macOS and C# on Windows.
Aesthetics
Cursor Companion, Ambient Frame, and Winter Frame use native desktop presentation for their visible effects.

Understand background resource use

LowLighter is designed to keep background memory use modest when an overlay is waiting. Resource use can increase while Agent is working, Meetings is listening, an answer is being prepared, or an animated effect is active.

Close a feature when you are finished with it, or choose Quit when you do not want LowLighter running. Your saved settings remain available the next time you open the app.
